Tower Hamlets Cancer Screening Project: Year End Report 2010-11
Published in April 2011
Social Action for Health has been working on partnership with NHS Tower Hamlets to raise awareness of cancer screening services to community groups and women who are not attending cervical and breast screening services. The project aims to increase the take up of cancer screening services as a means to prevent late diagnosis of cancers.
This is done through four main strands of work:
- community awareness raising sessions
- block booking previous DNA women for cytology appointments
- block booking previous DNA women for breast screening appointments
- Encouraging women to attend breast screening appointments through reminder calls where issues and fears can be addressed.
